Manakau 2023 trip includes graded tracks, developing tracks, access across private forestry, smooth paddocks and a full day outing.
Thanks to the generosity of landowners we have the opportunity to travel across a number of properties and conditions can vary. Bring a tow rope - Mitch is likely to need a tow.
- Starting with Mt Thompson
- a camping ground
- private forestry
- a hunting hut
- and as far along Otaki Gorge as we can get to on the day
The tracks are rideable but have a bit of foliage overhanging much of the track - please bring lopers, slasher or hand secateurs and trim the vines and foliage if when there are stops - this will help the landowners a lot and help keep the tracks alive.
Access in this area is being affected by poachers and there are more locked gates than ever.
Please be cautious of horses and ride quietly to avoid spooking them
The Tracks go up to about 800m above sea level - bring your camera if the weather is like the Reccie Ride the views are stunning!
This is another ride for the club organised by our members, so it will be worth making the effort. Monies from this ride will be going to another notable charitable organisation.
Please meet on time at 112 Ringawhati Road, Otaki at 08.30...briefing at 8.45 and on the track at 09.00
